Dental Benefit Basics

Each benefit plan represents a percentage of the cost of treatment your insurer will cover in return for the payment of monthly premiums. The specific treatments covered will depend in large part on your insurer, but typically, patients also have the opportunity to elect a wider range of treatments in exchange for a slightly higher monthly premium. In most cases, you can expect to receive the following benefits:

80 to 100% coverage for preventive care
50 to 80% coverage for restorative care
20 to 70% coverage for orthodontic treatments (when elected)
20 to 50% coverage for miscellaneous treatments like sportsguards and dental sedation options

In-Network Dental Care

As in-network dentists, we have agreed to your insurer’s fee schedule for covered treatments. That means you’ll only need to pay the out of pocket percentage of treatment costs. Out of network dentists can also provide covered treatments for PPO plans, but they may charge higher fees than those outlined by your benefit plan. You’ll need to pay the difference in price, and though the additional fees are usually minimal, visiting an in-network provider ensures you won’t need to worry about any additional cost.

If you wish to further extend payment for your dental care, we are happy to partner with CareCredit to offer low and no interest financing plans.
