When you have a dental insurance plan to rely on, you have more access to services that help you maintain long-term oral health and catch problems before they have a chance to develop into serious issues. If you have insurance through your employer, you’re lucky to be able to get your most basic preventive treatments completed, both for you and your family members. Our office recommends that you take all the steps needed to put prevention first as these treatments stop bigger problems and help you save money overall.
With MetLife dental insurance, there are many different plans to choose that meet your needs. PPO plans offer more flexibility, while Dental HMOs/Managed Care Plans help you save on out-of-pocket costs on comprehensive coverage. If you’d prefer to have coverage whenever you change jobs, you don’t have to lose your dental insurance in the process with the MetLife TakeAlong Dental Plan. If you’ve served in the military or you’re a retired uniformed service member, there’s a plan with you in mind as well.
As a MetLife member, you can take advantage of their negotiated fees. Type A treatments, which includes cleanings, exams, basic X-rays and topical fluoride applications, are typically covered 100 percent. For Type B treatments, which include tooth-colored fillings, more comprehensive X-rays, periodontics, space maintainers and sealants, you’ll typically pay 80 percent of your negotiated fee. Type C treatments, or bridges, dentures, dental implants, crowns, endodontics, periodontal therapy, and simple extractions are usually covered at 50 percent of your negotiated fee. We recommend that you always look at your plan in detail as they can vary in coverage depending on what’s provided by your employer.
When you choose a dentist that is in-network, it essentially means that you’re able to access savings that you might not otherwise be able to if you were out-of-network. However, these plans still come with yearly maximums and limits attached, which is why our team is prepared to help you get the most out of your benefits before they are reached at the end of the calendar year.
When it’s time to discuss financing for you or your family’s treatment, we want to ensure you that our staff is more than prepared to help you understand your benefits in better detail.
